My first pair of ‘tall girl’ pants were from an online store when online shopping was brand new. They were made of polyester and contained so many unnatural fibres that they were practically shiny. In addition, they sported an elastic waistband and slightly flared legs. Buying specialist clothing also equated to buying unfashionable clothing, which is thankfully no longer the case. Tall girls now have so much more choice, thanks for companies like the United Kingdom’s Long Tall Sally.
Today, Long Tall Sally and Taller Than Your Average have released their second collaborative collection. It features 25 on-trend pieces that couldn’t be further from the ill-fitting polyester pants I once bought. The first collection was worn and loved by many models including Jourdan Dunn (who was spotted in the brand at Fashion Week), and everyday tall girls alike. It was designed by former stylist and TTYA designer Irene Agbontaen, and is made to fit women 5 foot 8 and taller.
The Long Tall Sally x TTYA capsule collection boasts clean lines, pared back pieces that every girl can wear and feel confident in. Designer Agbontaen is 5 foot 11, and wanted to make the collection one that women would choose to buy, rather than just another fashion range. The focus of the collection is on fluid silhouettes and minimalist designs. Fabrics range from floaty organza to heavier ponte, making the pieces perfect for layering year-round. There are even some sequins and metallic fabrics for the sparkle lovers amongst you!
My favourite pieces are the black jumpsuit with the fantastic silhouette, the structured blazers and jackets, and the flowing midi skirts. You know that one of my main fashion requirements is versatility, and this collection certainly meets that requirement. Many of the pieces can go from boardroom to evening, and could also be pared back for a casual weekend look. I can’t wait to try some of the line – I’m sure there will be some items on high rotation this Autumn and Winter.
Pieces from the Long Tall Sally x TTYA collection range from £25 to £100, and can be purchased from Long Tall Sally’s website and a selected number of their stores. Keep your eyes peeled for the High Summer part of the range, which launches on 10 May.
Do you buy specialist clothing for your size or shape? What is your favourite piece from the Long Tall Sally x TTYA collection?
